Schedule a Test TodayWhy Radon Testing Matters in Iowa
Because of our unique glacial soil, Iowa leads the nation in radon gas. In fact, 7 out of 10 homes in the state test above the EPA's action level. The scary part? Radon is completely invisible and odorless.
It doesn't matter if your home is 100 years old or built last month. The only way to know what you and your family are breathing is to perform a professional test.

Continuous Radon Monitors vs. Store-Bought Kits
Hardware store charcoal kits are passive. They sit there, absorb air, and then you mail them to a lab, hoping weather or shipping delays don't ruin the accuracy.
At All Midwest Radon, we only use Professional Continuous Radon Monitors (CRMs). These advanced devices measure radon hour-by-hour over a 48-72 hours period. They detect humidity, temperature changes, and even alert us if someone moves or tampers with the device.
- No mailing to labs: Results are generated immediately upon pickup.
- Tamper-resistant: Guaranteed accurate data required for real estate.
Our Testing Process
Fast, unobtrusive, and strictly by the book.

1. Fast Scheduling
Call or book online. We can often deploy a monitor the same day or next day in the Des Moines metro area.

2. 48-72 Hours CRM Testing
We deploy a calibrated Continuous Radon Monitor (CRM) in the lowest livable level of your home. It stays there for 48-72 hours, taking hourly readings.

3. Same-Day Results
When the 48-72 hours are up, we retrieve the monitor and generate your plain-language digital report immediately on-site.
Understanding Your Result
Your test will generate an exact average in picocuries per liter (pCi/L). Here is what the numbers mean for your Iowa home.
| Radon Level | Risk Level | Recommendation |
|---|---|---|
| 0.0 - 1.9 pCi/L | Low Risk | No mitigation needed. Retest every 2-5 years. |
| 2.0 - 3.9 pCi/L | Moderate Risk | Consider mitigation, especially if the basement is heavily used. The WHO recommends action above 2.7 pCi/L. |
| 4.0+ pCi/L | High Risk (Action Level) | Mitigation is strongly recommended by the EPA to lower your health risk. |
